Year 6 Trip - Courts of Justice

E-mail Monday, 25 October 2010 22:19

It looks like Year 6 2010/11 had a wonderful start to the new academic year. On the 23rd September the class were invited to a grand visit to the Royal Courts of Justice. Prior to the visit, the class were given a play script that they had to practise at school based upon Tyler's trial.

Tyler is an 11 year old boy who committed arson because of peer pressure and boredom. The Year 6 pupils played their roles as magistrates, policeman, witnesses and Tyler exceptionally well it felt as if the trial was real.

After the trial the class had an opportunity to discuss Tyler's choices and how he could have avoided these actions from getting himself into trouble. Apart from learning about the justice system in the UK, the children also had a good level a good level of understanding concerning the consequences of bad actions through the activities.

Finally, the highlight of the day came when the lovely NCCL staff, Kelsey, took us on a brilliant tour of the impressive building of the Royal Courts of Justice.

Everyone had a great day and felt very privileged to visit the place and would certainly go there again if given the chance.
