Monday 15th-Friday 19th was London Peace Week.
After being approached by our Safer Neighbourhoods Team (Grove Green Ward),the year 6 pupils from NUIPS and our immediate neighbours Dawlish Primary and Newport Primary Schools, took part in a mutual exchange of peace wishes.Posters and poems made by children were exchanged in a mutual spirit of friendship.
The event took place at our school.Alhamdulillah it was the first time the Head from Dawlish Primary and Deputy Head from Newport School had visited us. PC James Bentley and his colleagues from the SN Team also were our guests for the morning. As such it was a significant milestone for all involved.Pupils and Adults shared their hopes for the future and in particular ways of promotiong further mutual co-operation, understanding and friendship between the three schools, were explored.
It was an opportunity for us to show in a practical way that Islaam truly does mean peace and that as Muslims we will work with our neighbours to promote this. We hope that this small mutual gesture is the beginning of a more deliberate and determined attempt to foster understanding and friendship between our schools.
More pictures of the Peace Visit can be found on the Year 6 Page.
Watch this space for future developments inshAllah!
