We Are Writers

E-mail Friday, 10 May 2013 08:13
The children and members of staff have been working extremely hard towards the We Are Writers project. This opportunity has allowed our pupils to explore their creative writing and have their work published in a real book. The book is now for sale!

The price for the book is only £5.99 which is priced by Scholastic, who will be publishing the book. The great news is for every book sold, the school will receive credit to purchase books for the school - isn’t that fantastic!

This book is an ideal memory keep sake item for parents and children. It would also be a lovely gift to a family member.

If you are interested in purchasing our book, please complete the order form that was sent home with the letter and hand it into the school office or class teacher in a sealed envelope. The deadline for any orders will be 24th May 2013. Please note: we will not be able to place any re-orders after this date.

You can download a copy of the letter here:

Year 5 at the Greenwich Observatory

E-mail Saturday, 20 April 2013 06:39
Year 5 went to visit the Grrenwich Observatory as part of the science curriculum where we are studying about the Earth, Sun and Moon. It was an extremely cold day but everyone braced the conditions and had a fun time. As well as our walk around the galleries at the observatory we got watch a presentation and speak to a real astronomer about space, planets and the universe. After that we went around to the Meridian Line and had a look at a pinhole camera that you can stand inside!

As a bonus we also go to see the Cutty Sark and took a walk through the Greenwich Foot Tunnel where you can walk under the River Thames.

Here are some pictures from the trip:

Year 4 and Snowflake

E-mail Saturday, 02 February 2013 18:02
Assalaamu alaikum,

MEET Snowflake!

snowflake1

Our very own classroom pet. Year 4 are learning about responsibility
and taking care of animals by looking after a Syrian hamster, masha
Allaah

Syrian hamsters originate in the Middle East. Most of the Syrian
hamsters available as pets today can trace their ancestry back
to a mother and her 12 pups caught in Aleppo, Syria, by a
Professor Aharoni in 1930!

The Syrian hamster was thought to be extinct in the wild as no
sightings had been made of wild Syrian hamsters since the 1980’s.
However expeditions in 1997 and 1999 found some wild Syrian
hamsters. The wild Syrian hamster is currently classified as
endangered.

Jazak Allaahu Khairan!

Wasalaam,

Miss Khanom

The Ghana Project

E-mail Wednesday, 12 December 2012 12:57

Asalaamu alaikum,

Year 4 have been working on a very exciting project and would like to share some of their work with you all. They have been working very hard to create an international link with a school in Ghana.

Mr Castro the english, religious and moral education teacher at Eshiem Rashidiya Islamic Primary, near Akim-Oda in the eastern region of Ghana, contacted our school and expressed his interests in working with us.

This is a great opportunity for both schools to share learning and find out about different cultures. It is also a fantastic opportunity to give da’wah and help others learn and know more about Islam in Britain.
