Quraan Competition 2009 PDF Print E-mail

As part of our Islam Awareness Week thechildren took part in a Qur’aan competition on Wednesday 18thNovember 2009. Children from all classes took part and their IslaamicStudies, Arabic, tajweed and recitation skills were put to the test!

This was a great opportunity for thechildren to apply the skills they learn in Islaamic Studies in a funand competitive way. Masha’Allaah all children who took partthoroughly enjoyed the morning and for some it was the highlight ofthe week.

There were thirty winning pupils fromteams across both Keystage 1 and 2. As a reward for their hard workand enthusiasm the pupils of the winning teams were given an inviteto a special lunch and also received a winner’s certificate fromUstaadh Ishaaq and Ustaadh Hussain. The lunch took place on Wednesday9th December and was a real treat for children and adultsalike! The classroom was specially decorated for the event and atasty lunch was laid on with dessert to follow.

Masha’Allaah as always we had afantastic team of adults who were on hand at all stages, from theactual day of the competition which was run so well by the Ustaadhsin school to the day of the lunch where people were able to collectfood, help set up and serve lunch for the children, JazakAllaahuKhayran to all for their helping hands. The school would also like tosay JazakAllaahu Khayran to those at Sahara Grill who once againshowed such generosity of spirit and donated so much food on the dayand to those people who gave monetary donations towards making theday so important for our children. The children were also presentedwith a lovely book of duaas which we hope they will put to good use.

It was a special day, as the subjectmatter for the competition had been so special. We hope thatinsha’Allaah by rewarding them with something different andexciting we were able to show our children the importance and statusof Islamic knowledge and reading the Qur’aan. But as Ustaadh Ishaaqreminded them, though they were being rewarded in this world fortaking part in something good, insha’Allaah even greater rewardslie waiting for them in the Aakhirah.
